Established in 1982, the Borough of Eatontown Office of Emergency Management (OEM) coordinates all emergency services in accordance with Federal and State law. OEM prepares for and responds to emergencies such as hurricanes, snowstorms, floods, fires, hazardous material incidents, and other natural or man-made disasters.
OEM oversees the four phases of emergency management: mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. Working closely with the Mayor and Council, OEM coordinates with Borough departments, volunteer organizations, and outside agencies to ensure effective emergency response and recovery efforts.
The Office of Emergency Management is responsible for implementing, reviewing, and updating the Borough’s Emergency Operating Plan (EOP), which outlines departmental responsibilities during emergencies. The EOP is reviewed and approved every three years by the Monmouth County Office of Emergency Management and is regularly tested through emergency exercises and drills.
During emergencies, the Borough’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC), located adjacent to the police communications center, serves as the central coordination point for the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC).
OEM also coordinates the Citizen Emergency Response Team (CERT), a volunteer program that provides community emergency preparedness training and support. Training is provided, and volunteers are always welcome.
