NJ American Water suggests even/odd schedule.

NJ American Water suggests even/odd schedule.

New Jersey American Water is asking Monmouth County residents to use an odd/even schedule for outdoor watering to avoid stringent summertime water use restrictions.

The odd/even outdoor water use schedule being suggested works as such:

*Watering your lawn or garden should only occur on odd days of the month if you live at an odd number (example 1 Broad Street).
*Watering your lawn or garden should only occur on even days of the month if you live at an even number (example 2 Broad Street).
*It is suggested that the watering of lawns be done early or late to minimize evaporation, typically between 6AM and 9AM and from 5PM to 8PM.

These suggestions would not apply to:

*Watering of sod or newly seeded lawns if daily watering is required.
*Use of private wells for law irrigation.
*Commercial uses of outdoor water, such as for nurseries, farm stands, power washing, plumbing, and commercial car washes.
*Watering of athletic fields.
