General Clerical position available.

 

The part-time Clerk Typist position to the Planning and Zoning Boards of Adjustment/General Clerical is available immediately in the Building and Code Enforcement Department of the Borough of Eatontown.  The successful applicant must possess above average computer, clerical and communications skills, the ability to multi-task on several projects at once, work well with the public, and have prior experience working in a busy office setting. Preference will be given to those with previous municipal Planning, Zoning, Building or Construction office experience who have familiarity with Spatial Data Logic software.

 

The part-time Clerk Typist will work twenty-five hours (25) per week between the hours of 9:30AM to 2:30PM Monday through Friday. Medical, prescription, dental and paid time off benefits are not available for this position. The range for the position is $7.25-$16.00 per hour depending on qualifications. General Clerical Job Description

 

DEFINITION:

 

Under the Zoning Officer/Acting Administrative Secretary to the Planning and Zoning Boards of Adjustment, the part-time Clerk Typist to the Planning and Zoning Boards will perform routine, repetitive, clerical work of a varied nature; does related work as required.

EXAMPLES OF WORK & GENERAL DUTIES:

 

Types technical, financial, statistical, and other statements, reports, certificates, correspondence, memoranda, vouchers, purchase orders, charts, forms, tabulations, contracts, specifications, case records, manuscripts, and legal documents from copy, records, or audio recordings.

 

Prepares reports, agenda packets, and composes correspondence for the Planning and Zoning Board of Adjustment meetings.

 

Assists in locating and compiling data for reports for the Planning and Zoning Boards of Adjustment and the Building Department.

 

Maintains essential records and files for the Zoning Officer/Acting Administrative Secretary to the Planning and Zoning Boards of Adjustment. Also provides clerical support to the Building Department.

 

Addresses, stamps, and mails department correspondence.

 

Gives information to the public in person, over the phone and through email. Answers the phone, takes accurate messages, sends and receives voicemail.

 

Accepts applications and monies for the Building Department.

 

Operates office machines and equipment, including fax machines, computers, electric typewriters, photocopiers, calculators, and other equipment as required.

 

Will cross train within the Building Department to support other administrative support positions on a regular basis.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education:

Graduation from high school or vocational high school or possession of a high school equivalent certificate required; graduation from a 2-year college program or equivalent is preferred.

 

Experience:

Prior experience in a municipality specifically in the Planning, Zoning, or Building Departments strongly preferred.  

 

Licenses:

Appointees will be required to possess and maintain a valid New Jersey driver’s license to perform the essential duties of this position.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

 

Knowledge of office methods, practices, routines, and equipment.

 

Ability to understand, remember and carry out oral and written directions and to learn quickly from oral and written explanations and demonstrations.  Ability to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.

 

Ability to prepare clear, sound, accurate and informative reports containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations.

 

Ability to utilize computers and various types of recording and data information systems used by the Borough of Eatontown.

 

Ability to understand and observe rules, regulations and policies of the Borough of Eatontown.
