Part-Time Child Care Aides Wanted

Part-time Child Care Aide positions are now available.

There are Child Care Aide positions available in the Recreation and Community Services Department of the Borough of Eatontown. The successful applicant will have experience working with children, be of good character, be able to pass a pre-employment physical, background check and will also be fingerprinted.

The part-time Child Care Aides will work Monday through Friday from 2:30pm-6:00pm for a total of 17.5 per week for $8.50-$11.00 per hour depending upon experience. This work will be scheduled when school is in session from September to June. There may be additional opportunities down the road for summer hours. Attendance at seminars, in-service workshops and additional training may be required by the Recreation and Community Services Director. There is no medical or paid time off benefits available for this position.

 Job Description

 DEFINITION:

Under the direction of the Site Coordinator, supervises young children in a safe and happy atmosphere; does work as required.

EXAMPLES OF WORK & GENERAL DUTIES:

Sees that proper measures are taken at all times to eliminate actual and potential hazards to the safety of children.

Assists with the planning and executing of activities for the children supervised.

Assists in keeping records on the children supervised as directed by Site Supervisor.

Prepares accurate and informative reports when needed.

Will attend additional training, seminars and in-service workshops for continued professional development as directed.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Graduation from high school or vocational high school or possession of a high school equivalent certificate required.

Experience:

One (1) year of experience in the supervision of children.

Licenses:

Appointees will be required to possess and maintain a valid New Jersey driver’s license to perform the essential duties of this position.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of the problems involved in the care, custody and treatment of children.

Ability to communicate with and relate to children.

Ability to discern children’s needs and interests.

Ability to work well with children.

Ability to follow both oral and written directions. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.

Ability to understand and observe rules, regulations and policies of the Borough of Eatontown.
