Environmental Commission Members Needed

Environmental Commission Members Needed

The Borough of Eatontown is seeking volunteers to serve on its Environmental Commission.    Members are appointed by the governing body and serve 3 year terms.  The Board is currently lacking sufficient members to convene and act upon matters that may require its attention.  The primary duties of the Environmental Commission are to:

  • Conduct and coordinate research into the use or possible use of the open land areas of the Borough of Eatontown
  • Recommend to the Planning Board plans and programs for inclusion in the Borough Master Plan related to open areas, publicly or privately owned, including marshlands, swamps and other wetlands
  • Study and make recommendations concerning open space preservation, water resources management, air pollution, sold waste management, noise control, soil and landscape protection, environmental appearance, marine resources and protection of flora and fauna

The Environmental Commission is authorized to have 7 regular members and 7 associate members.  Associate members have the right to participate fully in the work of the Commission, but may not vote except in the absence or disqualification of a regular member in order to constitute a quorum, and then so by order of seniority.  The Commission meets monthly in Borough Hall on the third Thursday at 7:30 PM.

Anyone interested in serving on the Eatontown Environmental Commission can apply by submitting a Citizen Leadership Form to the office of the Borough Clerk.  The form is available on the Eatontown Borough Webpage under the Clerk/Registrar heading.  For further information interested parties can contact Borough Administrator George Jackson at (732) 389-7621 or email at
