In 1983 a resolution was passed creating a committee for the purposes of informing the municipality as to the needs of the Borough's youth and for encouraging youth participation in constructive community activities & programs. The Youth Committee has certainly grown throughout the years. It has gone from a group of about 14 students to over 40 participants.
The Y.C. is made up of students ranging from 7th to 12th grade. It is supervised by several adult advisors, the Director of Recreation. Any student in grades 7-12 is encouraged to become a member of the committee.
During the year the Youth Committee sponsors several events around the community. These include: Highway & town clean-ups, Fun Day, visits to the Eatontown Convalescent Center, a dessert and coffee party at the Meadowbrook Senior Housing Center and volunteer service at the Borough's Community Events.
The Youth Committee holds regular meetings on the first Wednesday of each month at the Community Center, 68 Broad Street. Anyone interested in attending a meeting or seeking to volunteer on the Committee can contact the Recreation & Community Services Director Janice Grasso, at 389-7607.
