Pride In Eatontown Committee

After twenty years of service, the Pride in Eatontown Committee (PIE) has become a dynamic force in improving the appearance of Eatontown.  The Locust Grove cemetery on South St. was added to the highway frontage previously targeted for clean-up, including heavily traveled parts of  Route 35 and 36, and Wyckoff Road.

PIE members initiated and are maintaining the "planters program" on Main Street.  They have developed a cooperative agreement with local businesses to keep the plants watered and healthy and are supplementing the business owners' efforts with weekend watering, replacement of dying plants and general upkeep of the planters.

PIE has expanded and maintained flower gardens throughout the community, including the triangular garden on Grant Avenue, the welcome sign at the intersection of Hope and Wyckoff Rds. and gardens at Wampum Park.

The committee surveys businesses in town and presents "beautification" awards each year to those they determined have have done outstanding jobs of maintaining their properties.

Each spring PIE donates packets of marigold seeds to every fourth grader in the Eatontown school system to encourage pride in the environment.

Members bring to the attention of the Committee problems observed throughout the Borough. Trash accumulation, clogged drains and unsafe situations are some of the problems the Committee has noted and worked to remedy.

PIE welcomes new members.  Membership is open to any borough resident and is formalized by appointment by the Mayor. The Committee meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Borough Hall. Meetings are always open to the public. Contact the Council Liaison, Anthony Talerico, Jr., with any specific questions.

Anyone seeking to volunteer on the committee please download and fill out the Citizen Leadership form and contact the Borough Clerk at 732-389-7601.
