Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 4:30PM and total 35 hours per week. The salary range for this position is $26,046-45,553. Health and paid time off benefits are available for this position. The successful candidate must pass a background check, pre-employment physical and a drug test.

Job Description
DEFINITION:
Under the direction of the Police Department's Services Commander, assists in the day-to-day activities of the Records Division by performing a variety of responsible clerical and administrative tasks to document, process, maintain and control police records, case files, statistics and related information. Work includes: entering data for police records, responding to public information requests and other assigned duties. Due to the nature of the work, accuracy, attention to detail and multi-tasking are important skills that must be demonstrated.
EXAMPLES OF WORK & GENERAL DUTIES:
Maintains, retrieves, protects, retains and processes data entry of all police records, traffic summonses and accident reports. Responsible for the dissemination and release of police records in accordance with applicable laws, department policies and procedures.
Corresponds in person, electronically, in writing, by phone or other approved means when a request for records is received; disseminates information as appropriate. Answers telephone and provides counter assistance to the public; provides a variety of information regarding services, permits, release of records, etc.
Assists the Records Officer in collecting, compiling, analyzing and assembling information from various sources regarding records and statistics on a variety of specialized topics; participates in the preparation of reports, generates and proofreads a wide variety of reports, letters, memoranda, correspondence and statistical charts; converts from a rough draft or verbal instruction; independently composes documents related to assigned areas of responsibility.
Utilizes various computer applications and software packages; enters and maintains data; generates reports from a database or records management system; creates documents using word processing or spreadsheets software.
Provides staff assistance to Command and Special Staff; performs special assignments, tasks and projects as assigned; performs other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Two years of diversified office experience, preferably with clerical law enforcement work or an equivalent.
Testing:
Successful completion of the following will be required: criminal background investigation, psychological examination, medical examination and drug screening.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge and ability to use modern office equipment and computerized software programs including Microsoft Office and Windows based programs. Ability to efficiently and accurately enter data into a computer.
Ability to quickly respond to requests for information in a courteous and diplomatic manner. Exercise discretion by maintaining confidentiality in dispensing the requested information.
Ability to follow both oral and written directions. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
Ability to establish an effective working relationship with co-workers and the general public.
Ability to understand and observe rules, regulations and policies of the Borough of Eatontown.
